Can we have a candid chat about the āEaster Bunnyā? š
First, bear with me while I share a ridiculously embarrassing story to illustrate something I believe God is highlighting.
+++
When our son was in elementary school, he found a maxi pad in the house. He has always been so curious, and wanted to immediately know what it was. Of course, I panicked. I didnāt feel like he was mature enough to handle the truth, so I lied and told him that it was a special attachment for the āSwifferā mop. š¬
He then proceeded to āswifferā the kitchen floors with my maxi pads. Lord, have mercy. We are all out here just tryin to do our best with what weāve been given. š
Embarrassing story aside, I felt impressed to share some encouragement for all of us this Easter season;
Kids are ready for the Truth about Easter.
They believe what we tell them!
If they can believe in a bunny who hides eggs filled with treasures, (or that a maxi pad is a Swiffer pad) they have the
"GIFT of FAITH" inside of them.
We get to FAN that gift...with the truth! š¬ļøš„
Don't we all love the signs of spring?
Tulips bursting through the ground, baby chicks being born and bunnies hopping about give us HOPE that winter is coming to an end and new life is available. You won't find me turning down a good Easter egg hunt or baskets filled with Easter goodness.
But, we miss a great opportunity if we skip over that it all points to a much bigger story-
the GOOD NEWS of Jesus!
Thank God we donāt need a seminary degree to share the good news!
Creation is already "sharing the gospel" without words. Look and see...
Death to life š š³
Buried and risen. š·
Birth. š¤
Transformation. š¦
Hope š
We have the very Word of God at our finger tips, and the help of the Holy Spirit to guide us.
I believe weāve been commissioned and equipped to share the truth and fan the gifts of faith in those around us.
Pause for moment and capture the faith being fanned in this scripture penned by Paul to a young Timothy;
āIām filled with joy as I think of your strong faith that was passed down through your family line. It began with your GRANDMOTHERā¦who passed it on to your dear MOTHERā¦and itās clear that you too are following in the footsteps of their godly example.
Iām writing to š¬ļøš„ fan into a flame and rekindle the fire of the spiritual gift God imparted to you when I laid my hands upon you. For God will never give you a spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love and self-control.
So, never be ashamed of the testimony of our Lordā¦ but overcome every evil by the revelation of the power of God! He gave us resurrection life š· and drew us to himself by his holy calling on our lives. And it wasnātĀ because of any good we have doneā¦ The truth is now being unveiled by the revelation of the anointed Jesus, our life-giver, who has dismantled death, obliterating all of its effects on our lives, and has mantled his immortal life in us by the gospel."
2 Timothy 1:4-10 (TPT)
I just LOVE that picture of generational faith! That's what this community is passionate about!
Deuteronomy 4:9 says to "be sure to pass (the memories of the faithfulness of God) on to your children and grandchildren.
(paraphrase mine)
What a privilege to fan these flames!
I've asked my son to forgive me for fibbing to him about the whole Swiffer thing.
If there was ever a community to share that story in, it would be this one. We are all so moved by the faith of the woman who touched the fringe of Jesus' robe.
I'm just here to say that the Easter bunny and phony Swiffer pads have nothinā on the power of Jesus and the truth of the Gospel!

always in love and truth,
